Jason S. Frischer, MD, is Surgeon-in-Chief at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital and Professor & Chief of Pediatric Surgery at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. He also directs Le Bonheur’s multidisciplinary Colorectal Center and holds the Bob and Paula McEniry Endowed Chair of Pediatric Surgery and the St. Jude Chair of Excellence in Pediatric Surgical Oncology.

Dr. Frischer joined Le Bonheur in 2025 after more than 17 years at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, where he held multiple leadership roles, including Associate Director of Pediatric Surgery and Director of the Colorectal Center, ECMO Program and Pediatric Surgery Subspecialty Fellowships. An internationally recognized pediatric colorectal surgeon, he specializes in Hirschsprung disease, anorectal malformations, cloaca, inflammatory bowel disease and other complex colorectal and pelvic conditions.

A nationally recognized leader in pediatric surgery, Dr. Frischer has dedicated his career to clinical excellence, building innovative programs, educating future pediatric surgeons and developing multidisciplinary, family-centered systems of care. As Surgeon-in-Chief, he leads Le Bonheur’s surgical services with a focus on quality and safety, innovation, collaboration and expanding access to highly specialized surgical care for children throughout the Mid-South and beyond.

Dr. Frischer has led international pediatric surgical missions in Tanzania, Paraguay and other underserved regions, providing complex surgical care while partnering with local health care teams. He also serves on the Board of Directors of Mending Kids, an international nonprofit dedicated to providing life-changing surgical care to children around the world.

Dr. Frischer earned his medical degree from SUNY Downstate and completed his general surgery training at the Mount Sinai Hospital in New York. He completed an ECMO/research fellowship and pediatric surgery fellowship at the Children’s Hospital of New York/Columbia University Medical Center.
